A group of America's leading critical care doctors say they have discovered a COVID-19 treatment protocol that is saving lives—and yet no hospital has taken it up, and health agencies are refusing to test it.

The protocol, known as MATH+, has reduced the mortality rate among critical COVID patients to just 5 percent compared to the 30 percent dying after receiving standard care in hospitals around the world.

The lives of thousands of patients treated with the protocol in five American critical care units have been saved, and the doctors who make up the Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) have published a paper outlining the protocol.

But despite the evidence, the doctors are being ignored, and the MATH+ protocol is not being tested. Dr Paul Marik, from the Eastern Virginia Medical School and one of the FLCCC founding members, said: "I believe we've cracked the COVID-19 code. People are dying needlessly, and this protocol can save lives."

The protocol treats the three major COVID symptoms—restricted breathing, inflammation and excessive blood clotting—and is made up of methylprednisolone, a corticosteroid, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), thiamine (B1) and heparin, an anticoagulant. The 'plus' is for other treatments that have been tried with the main protocol.

After publishing the protocols, Dr Marik was joined by four other intensive care specialists, including Dr Joseph Varon, chief of critical care at United Memorial Medical Center in Houston, who are using it on their critical COVID patients. Overall, 95 percent of the patients are recovering, compared to just 65 percent receiving standard care in other hospitals.
