The European Commission and Argentina signed landmark agreement today

Written by CYBERMED NEWS

The Directorate General for Health and Food Safety, represented by its Director General Xavier Prats Monné, and the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality of Argentina, represented by its President Jorge Horacio Dillon, have today signed an administrative arrangement to establish a process of technical dialogue, exchange of information and common understanding between the two parties in the area of animal welfare.

This arrangement reconfirms the Commission's engagement to cooperate with trading partners on animal welfare and shows the commitment of the parties to work together with the aim to promote the development and implementation of animal welfare standards, in line with the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) as appropriate. It also outlines the general objectives of the technical cooperation between the parties, and foresees the possibility of establishing a working group and organising ad-hoc meetings on specific activities.
