Registration is now open for the third hearing on effective ways of investing in health, organised by the European Commission's Expert Panel on Health. The event will take place in the Residence Palace, Brussels on 25 October 2017.

Interested stakeholders are invited to register here by 13 October 2017.

The Expert Panel on Health is currently working on an Opinion on innovative payment models for high-cost innovative medicines as part of its continued work on innovation in care. This hearing, which brings together a range of key experts on public health and healthcare services from well-known institutions and professional bodies, representatives of Member States, non-governmental organisations, academics, EU institutions and relevant stakeholders from health related areas (industry, research, economy),  aims to help shape this opinion and discuss possible national and EU-level actions. Specifically, the Expert Panel seeks informed feedback on:

  1. The scope for national pricing and reimbursement authorities to explore new ways of setting prices for specialty medicines to improve access, whilst considering costs, benefits, budgetary impact and potential return on investment.
  2. The importance of choosing the right outcomes to measure performance for payment purposes. Specifically, how health outcomes can be reflected upon price setting, looking in particular to the role of  Real World Data for innovative payment models.
  3. The main considerations for maximising the usefulness of the Expert Panel's Opinion.
